Resource Centres for HIV/AIDS and other STI’s

This Project has a six[6] month timeframe.

The NYC recently received a grant of $12,000.00 to implement this project in three [3] pilot communities [Canaries, Vieux-Fort, and Castries]

We are seeking additional assistance to expand this project an implement it in at least three more districts [Dennery, Micoud, Beson].

This programme will enable our youth to have greater access to information, training and sensitisation on HIV/AIDS and other STI’s, thereby enhancing their ability in choosing and practicing healthier lifestyles. As a result the following are urgently required:

1. Three [3] computers & printers; accessible to the affiliates of pilot communities and allow for some measure of training and research

2. An LCD Projector; allows for some measure of training

3. Operational expenses

4. Three [3] office spaces;

5. Three [3] TV&VCR: allow for some measure of training

6. Three [3] desks

7. Fifteen[15] fold away chairs

As an organization we can reduce our need for financial support through generous equipment and professional services donations towards our projects. We are particularly interested in assistance in the following areas:

Equipment: computers, projector, printers, large storage hard drives, CD burners and other peripherals, Desks and Chairs, Televisions and Videos.

Additional_Comments:

The NYC firmly believes that youth behaviour does not occur in a vacuum, and cannot be fixed in a vacuum. It occurs in the context of the youth's family and family dynamics, peer group, and neighbourhood and social opportunities. The more desperate the context, the more supports youth will need to survive and prosper.

Programs that focus on fixing single problems, however serious-e.g., school dropout, drug abuse, teenage childbearing, criminal behaviour, unemployment-cannot and do not change the lives of youth. They treat only the symptom, not the underlying problems.
